About Human Givens

All forms of mental distress arise because, in one way or another, people’s physical or emotional needs are not being met.

Therapy is perceived differently depending on the individual, with some seeing it as intimidating, painful, or requiring a lengthy commitment. The Human Givens (HG) approach challenges these assumptions, offering a practical and forward-focused method. By understanding why clients seek therapy, HG helps them set goals, utilise their strengths, and learn strategies to rebalance their emotional needs. Traumas are addressed and left behind, enabling clients to feel more hopeful and in control of their future. Many experience noticeable improvements within 2-6 sessions.

If all our needs are met in balance, making us confident about our place in the world and the people we connect with, we do not suffer from disabling conditions, such as anxiety and stress, depression, addictions, phobias, or panic attacks.

The Human Givens approach is:

Holistic scientific and practical

Focuses on addressing core needs for wellbeing

Examines unmet needs & their role in the mind & body's overall balance

I felt that Nicki very much 'heard' and understood where I was coming from and the difficulties I was facing and showed a level of understanding that enabled her to help me reframe what was troubling me. Nicki has a quiet empathy that is supportive but professional and her ability to put you at ease, empowers you to be open about where you are at. Nicki delivers her therapy sessions in a quietly supportive and completely non judgemental way and immediately put me at ease. Thank you Nicki for giving me the space to express myself and be heard.
